Questions
What families ask, before they start and after.
Before you start
What ages is it for?
A child who is beginning to read: the programs start at the letters, and the English and French shelves go as far as a whole sentence and then a conversation. We ask how old your child is, so that the games they earn suit them, and you decide which program does.
Does my child need an account?
No. A child here is a first name, a colour and an age — no username, no password, no email address. The account is yours alone.
What is free?
The first lesson of every program, in every subject: you can open any program on any shelf and read its opening lesson without paying, with nothing to set up and nothing to switch on. Anything beyond it is opened for you when you ask. What it costs
Which languages?
Arabic, English and French — both the interface and the material. You can change the interface whenever you like, and each program opens in its own language.
Must I be able to read Arabic to help my child?
No. Your interface can be in English or French while your child reads Arabic. Every page can be read aloud: you press Adam reads, and your child hears it in Adam the Pencil's voice.
Is there any advertising?
None. No advertising and no advertising trackers, anywhere. The only outside services are the one that stores your material and a crash-diagnostics provider, and the latter never receives a child's name or what they were reading.
Does it make any sound?
Only a page read aloud, and only when the grown-up asks for it. Every game is silent.
What do you know about my child?
Their first name, their colour, their age in years, and what they have read: which lesson, when, and how many pages. The age decides which games they are given, and nothing else. We never ask their gender or their school, and they have no account for anything to collect against.
Can my child read on their own tablet?
Yes. You give them a link that stays on their device and needs no signing in, and you watch what they are doing on your own screen as they do it.
Once you have it
My child's tablet is showing a closed book
That is the waiting picture: nothing is running yet. Start a sitting from your own device and it arrives on theirs by itself, within seconds.
How do I get the link onto my child's tablet?
Open your child's page in the app and copy their link, then open it once on their device and save it to the home screen. One link per child per language, good for every sitting after it.
I asked for a subject — what happens now?
Your request reaches us and we open it by hand. There is no machine that opens it instantly. If it takes too long, write to the address at the foot of this page.
How do I delete everything?
From inside the app: Delete my account, at the foot of your own page, and everything of yours goes with it for good. There is also a deletion page on the web that needs nothing installed.
How do I report a problem?
From the Account menu in the app: Report a problem. You write what happened, it reaches us with the page you were on, and we write back to your own address. Or write to the address at the foot of this page.
